ABOUT ME

I am the mother of two wonderful adult children and have been married for 30+ years. I am a transplant to VA since the early 90’s and enjoy spending my time outdoors in the Richmond Community. I am an avid kayaker, hiker and when I get away, love to scuba dive! I look forward to working with you and helping you reach your goals in therapy.

As a therapist, I would describe myself as someone who is patient, understanding, and nonjudgmental. I believe that everyone has their own unique story and experiences that have led them to where they are today, and it is my job to help them understand and work through those experiences. I am a good listener and I have a lot of empathy for my clients. I am also very supportive, and I will work with clients toward their goals.

I have been in the field since 2000 working in various settings including MCV, Southside Regional, Hospice, PACE and private practice. I have worked with people of all ages and backgrounds and providing emotional support, crisis intervention and stress management. With my hospital background, I am competent in assisting people who are experiencing life threatening and chronic illnesses as well as those experiencing long term disabilities.

I have worked in hospice both as a social worker and as a bereavement coordinator. I have also lost loved ones and been the main caregiver. I have extensive training in working with grief and an active member of the Bereavement Coalition in Richmond.

I specialize in grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, life transition, stress management, caregiver strain, living with chronic illness, and crisis intervention. I provide a therapeutic approach that is person centered and strength based. I also utilize motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy. EMDR trained through EMDRIA.
